We had a trafic ( same as vivaro ) and it cost us a fortune to repair, I will get my husband to post the problems we had.

The list of things we had fixed.. most parts were covered under warranty.

2 gearboxes within 47,000 miles, under warranty the mechanic said they were £3500 each  ( common problem according to out best friend the AA man  )
2 clutches £1100 each if it was not covered ( another common problem )
alternator and battery
New engine after 41,000 miles
fuel pump
Mass air flow unit
loads of stupid electrical faults and breakdowns

The gearbox started to act up once more, so we part exchanged for the new volkswagon transporter and not one problem after 32,000 miles. The trafic was just 2 years old when we purchased it, and 5 years old when we sold the horrid thing.
Stay well clear of all vivaros, trafics and primastars no matter how much they say its been looked after.

We have a few vivaro mini buses at our taxi rank, they eat the gearboxes and clutch's for breakfast  I think one lad had 4 boxes fitted within 6 year. You can get them refurnished for £600.

We had 4 of these vans at work and everyone had a broken gearbox after 50 thousand miles. Renault trade you old gearbox for the new gearboxes for £3499+ vat and then you need to get it fitted which is 10 hours labour. They say the new boxes dont have a problem :-Q
