Hi there,
I have been searching for a caravan for the past two months now, I didn't know much about what to look for before I found this website, not had too much luck but last week I saw the funniest thing ever, I went to a property in northumberland to view a caravan and from the outside it looked ok not too bad in fact, until I looked under the caravan and saw 2 axle stands on each side of the caravan I asked the the seller why the axle stands were there he said the legs didn't drop down enough as it was on a slope in his drive I thought this was a little weird as they drop to the ground no matter of any slope so I asked the seller to remove the axle stands he refused to do this So I left.

Hi Brian
Welcome to Caravanbuyersguide. Thanks for the post, I will make sure I will include this trick next time the website gets updated. Did you have a closer look ? Was the axle stands keeping up the floor with a piece of wood too ? Only reason I can think of is to hide a soggy/spongy floor :?

Might have been a broken corner steady. I fell for a similar trick when viewing a van for sale in Margate last year. It was parked in a driveway and backed right up to the seller's garage door, so you couldn't get to that one corner steady to lower it. I bought the van and towed it home, only to find that that particular corner steady was broken, and held up with a piece of string! I was furious at the time. On closer inspection, I found that the nut had broken (quite common I now understand) and I was able to order one for a couple of pounds. Replacement was a simple and satisfying job. Then I found the damp, but that's another story...!
