C.R.I.S (Caravan Registration and Identification Scheme). is the national register of touring caravans, which was established in 1992 by the National Caravan Council. All caravans manufactured since 1992 by NCC members are recorded on the CRiS database by their unique 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Insurance companies organize claims on damaged insured caravans into four groups., they are;
Category A. Caravans will be crushed. The caravan will never be back on the road, The public will never see these caravans in the market
Category B. Caravans should only be used for spares only, Beware a lot of dodgy dealers will sell these on as repairable caravans
Category C. Caravans can be repaired but will require an engineers report sent to the Cris organization testing, road worthiness and safety.Once more beware, dodgy dealers can sell repaired caravans and claim the logbook is lost.
